Freedom for all

There is my first very short movie! I called it "Freedom for all"

It has been shot in Auckland, New Zealand with three people's help, my girlfriend and two of my roomates. It has been shot on MiniDV and edited with SonyVegas 6.0. The idea came to me as i was willing to practice the filmmaking "craft". As i want to put my writings up on the big screen, i needed somewhere to start. But where should i start and how? Although, i don't know anything about filmmaking, about camera work sounds and everything in filmmaking has its secrets for me. First, i needed a simple story with an easy manipulating actor (well, matter of discussion in that case). I also needed an easy set for a first shooting so i can get familiar with the camera work and the editing. Then i had to deal with recording the sounds and put everything together. But there it is, ready to be shown. I let you at it and please, leave your comments.

Hui in PAIN

Here is quite an interesting painter. Her philosophy of art has to be mentionned i think because it is for me, ideas i couldn't get use to with my own art. Her name is Hsiao-Hui Huang, originaly Taiwanese, she lives in Christchurch, New Zealand.

She says that art is about interactivity and public interpretation. The good example of this idea would be her "mini-me" exposition. Heads painted on a frame made out of steel. The main features like the hair and the chin are painted, but everything else like the mouth, the eyes, the nose, etc... are made with magnets. Which gives the oportunity to the vuewer to make the piece of art look like he thinks that coiuld be. By creating this interactive pieces of art, the painter gives the chance to the viewers to extend their own creativity. And i feel that in this modern world where the main difference between men is the oportunity and capacity to make decisisons, it is always good to help or even push people to their limits of creativity and choice making. It might seem ridiculous than a painting could look like a challenge but if someone wants to do this experience once, just try it! Put a few people that you know of to have different characters, emotional, leader, passive and see the difference, could be surprising really.

So here is an example on one of her pieces:

If you want to see more of what she does, you can find the link to her website in the link section at: "Hui in PAIN" which is her website's name. Check out the section "arse me" to see more of her exhibitions and enjoy the writings (well, i won't make any personnel comments for that, héhéhé).

Hsiao-Hui, please, let me know if i have been mistaking anything about your work in this article.

The bodyless bento

A friend of mine red my text "the faceless model" and decided to nicely make fun of it by sending me a picture of "bento", the japanese dish made in a box for people going to work (as much as i know of it but tell me more if there is more to tell about it) and challenged me, not knowing that i would do it to write a text about "the bodyless bento". Well, here it is... let's have a laught!

You look at me and I know that you are scared. I can feel it and I already enjoy it. I thought about this moment all morning and I can’t stop laughing. I got your soul because I created you, you are mine for all and ever. I dressed you, I played with you and I gave you life knowing… that I am gonna eat you. I am the reason why you are bathing in oil, I am the reason why your life looks like a big salad, I am the reason why you can’t run away.

You look at me and I know that you are scared and it makes me even hungrier. I knew when I created you  that I will have to face you, like a challenge, an imploring glance against an hungry stomach, which one will be the strongest? I already know but I decided that for my lunch, I would first have doubts and then have you, a two courses meal mixed with emotions and vegetables.

You look at me and I know you are scared. You are the bodyless bento and I am the one who’s gonna eat you!

The faceless model

When a friend sent me some pictures of her that she made with a professional phtographer, i felt that there was something to write about. So here it is: The faceless model.

A famous bottle of whiskey, a pack of smokes, a black and white picture for a blue mood. And in the background, there she is, lying down on the floor, one knee up.  You can see her body but not her face, she wouldn’t let you see it. Some say that a beautiful body attracts the customer and a simple and sensual glance can make him buy anything. But she is unique and up to the challenge, believing that only her body can do both.

And she’s right, as easy as it seems, she has this marvellous way to let your mind wander on her fine lines and when your eyes reach the whiskey, you are already tipsy with happiness and willing to have more. But you understand that through time and space, she is too far away, in another world and she doesn’t give you the chance to meet her as long as you can’t her eyes.

Still black and white, she invites you, in her fluffy dress, holding it at the edge of your mind, playing with it, showing you the path to what could be your craziest fantasy, letting you know that she is almost yours.

But she is not, she is no one’s and again, she stays in the dark, right under the lights of fame, keeping her face unknown. Maybe she is just shy, maybe she wants to be mysterious or maybe she wants to play with your mind, letting you think that she is everyday around you, in the bus, in the stores, next door.

In white but coloured this time, she is getting closer and gives a bit of herself,  her long legs folded to show you that her skin is smooth and her ability to almost kneel to the floor wearing high heel shoes. Her curves make your head spinning and then you start wondering why.

Why is she hiding her face? You need more! More than what she gives you. But is it possible that the faceless model don’t want to show you what she thinks could not be beautiful? Is it possible that perfection has issues?

Well, she is the only one to know the truth… her and the photographer. This mystery man who made her what she is today and made her amazing body become brighter, without asking, not once, to have her face on the pictures.

You have the right to ask some more, but she has the right to refuse and at the end, what really matters, is that she makes your mind wonder and that is the reason that in the middle of all women, she is the one you will remember.

Welcome to the english version of

Welcome to the english version of "pausenature", my expression of art through my writings and my photos. A door open on my projects and a professional contact card.

I will post here some texts that i wrote in English and some translations of my french texts. For those who can read french, please, visit my other blog: http://pausenature.canalblog.com

This website will grow as fast as i can work on it, the french one being my priority knowing that it is the language i write the most with. But living in an english country, i am now starting to write different texts in english and i meet people who make me want to write about them in english. I also prepare a big project that will take place in an english speaking situation. I'll explain more about it very soon.

Greetings

Aurélien
